BTS (behind the scenes) gives the follower a playf BTS (behind the scenes) gives the follower a playful inside look from start to finish of a wedding. But, when it is hurricane season the BTS tells a whole different story. A&A’s 10/12/24 wedding goes down in the books as the miracle wedding. On 9/27/24 the catastrophic Category 4 hurricane Helene flooded all of St Pete leaving everyone with no power for 5-10 days. Venue #1 flooded. Living on a hope and a prayer that it would open in time. In the mean time I scrambled to find another plan, but in good faith no venue would let us sign a contract because the Category 5 hurricane Milton was barreling towards us! Mitigation halts at venue #1 and they cancel. On 10/7 we move to venue #2, the restaurant where one of the other events was taking place. 10/9 Milton makes land fall just south of the Tampa Bay Area, sending tornados and a half a million without power. Again. I returned from the evacuation only to see to the twisters tore part of our roof off. My first thought was… venue #2. I had to drive over fallen trees, power lines and tons of water and there was no power. I started calling every sales manager I knew over the next 2 days to find venue #3. @JWmarriotttampa was able to get food, found enough employees who could come to work and in 48 hours we re-planned the wedding. 3 venues in 10 day stretch. @noorzufaricreative rounded up vendors to see who was still available, who needed gas, food, and who had a way to deliver the goods we needed to pull off this insanely gorgeous wedding. We had fallen trees on rental trucks, water intrusion that got a few other decor items wet.. basically we were hoping for anything! I was sleeping in a sleeping bag (that kept day of stationery) in the corner of the house that had a roof. During the church rehearsal I was in the back pew trying to get the band back, book more buses to get guests over to Tampa for the reception, sending group text messages to guests about the new plan, and recreating a new guest experience. All within 36 hours of doors opening. BTS acronym changed to “Believe This Sh*t”. I’ll forever be grateful for sacrifice that every vendor made to make this wedding happen.
