Our crazy idea this week actually isn’t that crazy…and one of our brides is doing it. So many of you girls struggle between the band vs dj dilemma. In our opinion, their are certainly advantages to both although in our VERY honest opinion and from what we have seen - more people seem to dance and stay at weddings longer - when their is a band…or even better a band AND a DJ. Our bride last week had both! Anyway, one of our summer brides next year told us that she and her fiance’ REALLY wanted a DJ…which is great. We love DJ’s. But, this DJ is special…WHY? Because he is from the fabulous nightclub TAO in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel. Is it going to be expensive to have him…YEAH! Worth it - TOTALLY! Why not consider it? It may even cost as much as a band…or even a little less. But, if you LOVE the sound a DJ has because of the authenticity of the music, scout out some talent at some of the hot clubs in LA, New York, and Las Vegas and get your self an AWESOME DJ!

Ooh, Ooh, Ooh - we have been dying to share this one that we stumbled upon. It is a company called NOTEPOLISH PAPERIE and they have some fabe’ customizable items that they can offer to really "personalize" your wedding. We ordered the very popular floral cones from them that were custom printed in the Bride’s colors with names and date + coordinating ribbon. The cones were then filled with petals and hung on the side of each chair. Guests were asked to shower the bride and groom with them as they walked down the aisle. Produces a really great photo - that is why we love it so much. Anyway, these girls were GREAT! And even called us personally when they weren’t able to do the cones in the paper we originally chose because they were out of it and couldn’t get more in time. They upgraded us at no additional charge to another style of stock and they turned out beautiful. Check these girls out!

We also love the ADESSO Polaroid Guest Book Albums. These have been popular for a very long time and seem to creep their little heads every few seasons. Anyway, they make it SO easy to do a fun guest book. You can even buy the cameras and film with the album as well as customize it and pick from various colors to match your motif. No worrying about double sided tape or mounting photo corners. The pages are already ready for you to slide the photo in and SIGN. We always like to order ours through our fave site BEAU COUP.

I know, I know. We haven’t been on in a week or two and I know you gals are missing us! Anyway, we apologize. Things have gotten a little crazy and finding the time to breathe has been a challenge. Anyway, we are hopefully back…at least weekly. And thank you for your patience. WHEW! What a wedding season so far. It’s crazy. Our "ON"season in Florida is our "OFF-SEASON" in Colorado and Vice-Versa…which works out well because we are really able to help each other out!

This week we would like to acknowledge the fabulous Sales & Catering staff of the VERY beautiful Lodge & Spa at Cordillera. We had a wedding there last weekend and we are certain it is one of the most beautiful areas of Colorado we have seen so far. (And a little "famous" after the whole KOBE saga) We kept wondering if WE were sleeping in the "infamous" room - DOUBT IT!

Anyway, the staff at the hotel did an amazing job! They were attentive to the guests needs, very helpful with the room set-up and produced an amazing four course dinner. It was a smaller, quaint wedding, we we find ourselves really liking so their impeccable service stood out even more.

Thank you to the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera staff - especially Kirsten Goodman. A young lady at the hotel who manages all of the weddings from beginning to end. She was truly professional, knowledgeable, flexible and easy to work with…which is a breath of fresh air. Sometimes we find our "mountain" friends a little slower in getting things but she was definitely on top of it.

We will post photos of this wedding shortly.

We would also like to recognize GARY GAVITO DESIGN and VS DESIGN (Valerie Schaefer) for the outstanding decor that they did at the wedding. We have been working with them a lot this year and have more upcoming weddings and so far, they have done an outstanding job. They set up on time, finished early, and had everything taken down by the following morning making the hotel staffs jobs a lot easier.

They did magnificent lighting casting a blue and silver hue to the room, hung silk chiffon curtains around the entire room, draped beautiful cobalt blue silk shantung fabric from the center of the room to various points, and did fabulous white lanterns with blue lights inside in the tent on the back patio. They truly did an outstanding job in transforming an otherwise plain ballroom into a really beautiful space. I tell you girls, decor and lighting is SO important and should ALWAYS be accounted for in your wedding budgets. Most decor and lighting starts at about $8,000 but is totally worth it and adds a lot to the ambiance. Floral and Linens are also a huge factor to consider in your budget as well. Thank you GARY and VALERIE.

We will be posting other weddings attached to "this week" because we have had quite a few, but for now, we want to post Kelsey & Zach’s June 29th wedding. They were such a GREAT couple to work with. They live in Santa Monica, CA so A LOT of decisions were made over the phone, or online, and a lot of trust was put into our opinions and thoughts. Their was a summery logo designed using the weddings color palette and leaf motif that first showed its head on their invitations. Celadon Green linens with Chocolate Runners and Pink Chair Ties graced the tables as well as both short and tall centerpieces in and out of the water. The cake featured Bamboo which is considered to be the poster plant for sustainability and the couple doubled up on guest favors: Pink Rubber Calculators donning the equation Kelsey + Zach = love 2 (squared) as well as a lavish candy buffet. The bride is receiving her PHd in Accounting and the Groom is currently pursuing his Masters in Accounting and both worked for Deloitte. So, it only seemed appropriate! Also, dancing shoes were offered in the form of comfy flip flops and large lanterns hung around the space lighting the way for all the out of town guests. The couple even went so far as to rent a motor coach that shuttled guests to all the events and back to the hotel so they didnt have to drink and drive. And the drinks were flowing" Colorado Bulldogs, Persecco Bellinis and Key Lime Martinis graced the menu as well as various Vodka drinks, fabulous wines and 5 microbrews. This couple spared no expense and no detail was left out. We really enjoyed working with them and know they will remain friends for a long time. To recoup, they jetted off to Italy for 2 weeks! Ciao Baby.

07.07.07 kept us VERY busy with 3 weddings over the weekend. Of course, we will post the photos when we get them…FYI girls - next year the 2 big dates are: 06/07/08 and 08/08/08. We could also have booked May 24th, 2008 about 10 times over. It is Memorial weekend and I guess a popular time next year? Anyway, this week, we would like to recognize the fabulous WILDFLOWER LINENS out of LA. Their linens are so Yummy…and EXPENSIVE! But worth every dollar - truly! You will see when we post the photos from one of our 07.07.07 weddings. Not to mention, they had the linens arrive to the venue directly, steamed and un-wrinkled (rare) and they showed up 3 days early.  Anyway, they are our new fave linen vendor and hope they become our brides too! It makes for a gorgeous room and GREAT photos. It is what the celebs use.

We just LOVE LOVE LOVE custom aisle runners. Especially with beautiful monograms, bible verses, meaningful poems, or just the bride and groom’s name and date printed on it. They are pricey (about $350) but they are worth it ladies. Shower it with 450 rose petals and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous aisle…then you dont even really need to decorate the pews! Anyway, we have ordered a few this week from:

Aisles with Style

Original Runner Company

Also, a new take on the candy biffet is to just provide your guests their own candy in a double decker candy bin with mini-scoop. You can fill it with anything you want. We chose personalized M&M’s in the wedding colors with coordinating ribbon and custom label. Check them out. They are SUPER cute and will find their place on someone’s desk, after the wedding, I’m sure. We found the best prices on this site. (And you know where to find the M&M’s)

So, their is this GREAT company based in LA (aren’t they all) called Good Fortunes. They make customized fortune cookies that are as large as a foot in diameter, as well as some other fun "sweets". Anyway, we have sent these cookies to various people in our lives and they have LOVED them. So, we got to thinking….wouldn’t it be fun if we could use one of these LARGE fortune cookies at our weddings. So, we’re thinking maybe someone ought to have some made to hold wedding vows or wedding letters from our Bride and Groom to each other. Then, the officiant can bring out the cookies, have each person crack it open and OILA…out they come. It would also be fun to put the rings inside the cookie and have the ring bearer carry it down the aisle (without eating it of course) When it is time for the rings, the Maid of Honor and Best Man could crack open the Cookie and out come the rings. Think of all the possibilities!

Last weekend, we pulled off 3 great weddings. And we would like to recognize a few of the people that helped us to do that! As we have said before, the vendors we work with are truly appreciated by us and our brides. So many of them go above and beyond, and those that do, will continue to get our business.

Orange Blossom Catering did a fabulous job at our Museum event this weekend. They had all the linens set up before we showed up, were very courteous to the guests, "catered" to their every need, produced some fabulous food and in the end made us look GREAT!

Orange Blossom Catering

Chris Noll of Chris Noll Photography took some amazig shots of our Bride & Groom last week and he made every effort to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings on the way from the ceremony to reception making sure to stop off at picturesque locations all the while keeping our Bride & Groom on time…and we LOVE that!  We will post a few pics from last weekends events for your perusing.

Hardy Klahold, from Pixel Arts Photography, helped us out tremendouosly. This bride had a ton of decor - lanterns, parasols, gold fish, star fish, sand dollars, sand boxes, tiki torches, shell leis, etc…and setting all of this up in time was quite the challenge. But Hardy showed up 4 hours before the wedding to lend a hand as well as take some great getting ready shots! Thank you Hardy. We can’t wait to see the fabulous photos that he took! He had the mountains in the background at sunset with the Groom spinning the Bride around in circles…it was gorgeous!

We also got to work with a great new DJ this week that we have never worked with before. His name is Kirk and he is from Complete Music. He was extremely helpful while we were setting up as he set-up and lit the 25 torches we had outside by the reflection pool in 100 degrees weather. He was very willing to do anything we needed…and was also a GREAT DJ to boot. We will definitely be working with him again. He got the crows going with some great music. And chemstry at our events is VERY important to us.

Complete Music

And lastly, thank god for the PINK PAR LIGHTS we traveled with this week. Basically, these are Pink Gel Spotlights that we like to use in various areas to "light" things up a bit, such as cakes, blank walls, tables, centerpieces, etc. Last weekend we couldnt find our reception site contact ANYWHERE only to later find her eating cake in her office…Take note: this is NOT helpful behavior on our eyes and something we would seriously consider when referring a site in the future…anyway, when the Bride and Groom went to cut the cake, it was completely dark and noone could figure out where the master light panel…and with no one in sight to help us and a cake to cut, we quickly grabbed our pink spotlights, extension cords and did our best to Save the Day! Once we plugged them in and shined them on our Bride and Groom, everyone could see! YEAH! Not to mention, the beautiful light it reflected on them with the Glass in the background made for some GREAT cake shots…So, we would like to recognize our lights for Saving the Day this time!
